We’re proud of our long history in Kelowna.
The band existed as early as 1894, even before Kelowna was incorporated as a city. With brief interruptions during World War I and World War II, the band has operated continuously ever since. This band picture was taken in about 1900.
Our membership is about 60 musicians from throughout the Central Okanagan. Our members are all ages from teens to seniors and all players are volunteers, donating their time for rehearsals and concerts. The band plays at a variety of local functions including annual Remembrance Day ceremonies, Canada Day Folkfest celebrations, Rutland May Days, public concerts in parks, seniors’ homes, and other locations.
We are proud to participate in events involving the people of the City of Kelowna. We are a non-profit volunteer group of around 60 musicians who have been entertaining residents of the Kelowna area for well over 100 years. We are always looking for new members and new opportunities to play. We invite you to find out more about us, our concerts, and how to join the band.
